The Coronectomy procedure was introduced with the aim of avoiding IAN damage* by removing the coronal portion below the cementoenamel junction (CEJ), leaving the roots in place. To date, Dr. Sullivan has performed over 1000 coronectomy procedures. *The risk of temporary, inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) damage from third molar extraction ranges from 0.26% to 8.4%, and up to 3.6% for permanent damage; and lingual nerve damage can vary from 0.1% to 22%. |
